On the way home from school Tuesday, I overheard this conversation between the 2 Burns brothers in the backseat:
Jackson (as we’re driving over railroad tracks): Hey Levi! Did you know that the railroad company has trucks that can actually drive on the train tracks?!
Levi (crossing his arms over his chest and frowning): Uh-uhh. That’s not true.
Jackson (angered that Levi would dare doubt his wisdom): Yes-huh! They do, too! Daddy told me. And besides, you don’t know about this kind of stuff, Levi. I do. I’ve been alive for 6 years, and you’ve only been here for 4.
Levi (arms still crossed and eyes dangerously close to rolling up into his brain): So what, Jackson?
Jackson: So, I’m older than you! And older means smarter.
Levi (quietly thinking for a moment, then replying): I don’t think that’s true, Jackson. Momma’s been living waaaaaaaay longer than us, and she’s not really that much smarter.
I almost drove off the road.
